Title: Software Engineer
DESCRIPTION:
The Software Engineer will work closely with Product Managers, other Engineers and Testers to conceive, design, prototype, build and deliver a Web 2.0 user interface for CURRENT’s OpenGrid platform. This candidate is expected to prototype and builds web-based applications, focusing on aesthetics, ease of use and automated GUI testing. Candidate must also have a good understanding of JAVA/J2EE based programming.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• 3-5+ years JAVA programming experience.
• Distributed component technologies (EJB, application servers).
• Database design and development and data modeling (SQL, XML).
• Fundamentals of Computer Science: Object Oriented Design and design patterns, data structures, algorithms.
• Ability to create, modify, and enhance icons and images using creativity tools such as Adobe Photoshop or CS Suite.
• 2-3+ years Experience with designing and building complex & scalable web-based GUIs using HTML/JavaScript/DHTML/AJAX/CSS.
• 1-2+ years experience with JavaScript libraries (Dojo, JQuery).
• 1-2+ years programming experience using agile development methodologies.
• Attentions to detail and focus on quality of deliverables are a must.
• Ability to work independently, self-manages, and mentors others.
• Must be a good team player.
• Understanding of Linux and networking (a plus).
• University/College degree in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Evaluate and introduce technical standards and 3rd party components (open source & commercial)
• Participate in technical design/code and usability reviews.
• Participate in testing.
